Berkey® PF-2™ Fluoride and Arsenic Reduction Elements
PF-2 Berkey Fluoride & Arsenic Filters
PF-2™ reduction elements are designed to be used with Black Berkey® water purification elements. The PF-2 filters remove:
- Fluoride
- Arsenic V and pre-oxidized Arsenic III
- Methyl tertiary-butyl ether
- Other heavy metal ions
from drinking water.
It is recommended to replace these filters after 1000 gallons or 3785 liters.
These filters are threaded onto the Berkey Black Filters. The filtered water from the black filters flows through the PF-2 filter before being stored for consumption. These filters are compatible with all Berkey water filter systems. In order to match the Berkey filter systems, they come as a set of two.
Fluoride in drinking water
PF-2 fluoride filters were developed to address the health concerns of water fluoridation. Its introduction was suggested to be a benefit in order to prevent tooth cavities. One arguments against water fluoridation include consent to medication where a population are being medicated without consent. Another argument is a lack of dosage control which has been shown to be much higher in children than adults. Health concerns about water fluoridation include its involvement in:
- dental and skeletal fluorosis
- bone cancer
- bone fractures
- reproductive problems
- reduced IQ
- non-IQ neurotoxic effects
- Arthrytic symptoms
- Pineal Gland function
- Thyroid function
- bone fragility
