1. What is Grander?

2. Is Grander a filtration system?

Grander can reduce the impact of chemicals or other harmful contaminants, but it is not a filtration system and does not remove or add any physical/chemical matter to the water. Read Why Filtration Is Necessary.

3. If I have a filter, do I need Grander?

Although a filter removes contaminants, it does not restore healthy structure or impart the necessary benefits of revitalized water. Read Why Grander Is Necessary.

4. If I have Grander, do I need a filter?

Most likely you will need a filter. Although Grander reduces the impact of harmful chemicals, heavy metals, and other water contaminants, it does not remove them.  Read Why Filtration Is Necessary.

6. What are the maintenance costs for Grander?

There are no maintenance costs for Grander Revitalization devices. Once a unit is installed, it will treat your water indefinitely.

7. Why do I need to filter my water?

8. What is the difference between popular retail filters (i.e. Brita) and filters from Harvest Haven?

Many purchase mass-marketed filters from popular retail outlets, expecting them to adequately address their water needs.

While they may remove some chlorine and contaminants, these filters cannot address the many complex needs of water in order to promote good health and hydration. 

These units are always more expensive in the long run because of the disposable nature of the replacement filters. And don’t forget the harm done to the environment by millions of spent filters going to the landfill.

Furthermore, many of these filtration systems do not have anti-microbial properties. They can become a source of contamination, a breeding ground for bacteria. The systems at Harvest Haven contain zinc and copper in the filtration media to prevent microbial contamination.

These are better, more effective solutions that save your money and health.

9. Is bottled water better than filtering my own?

The bottled water industry is poorly regulated and many companies do not use the best methods to remove contaminants.  There is also the serious problem of xenoestrogens leaching from the plastic into the water.

Better to have good, healthy water, which costs less, readily available in your own home.

10. Isn’t it cheaper to buy bottled water?

11. What information do I need about my water to decide on the type of filtration system? 

Find out what your city or municipality uses for water treatment. Is it chlorine or chloramine? Is fluoride added?

If you are using well water, have a water analysis done.

12. What is reverse osmosis (RO)?

Reverse osmosis is the process of forcing water through a semi-permeable membrane, removing all microorganisms and contaminants. Unfortunately, RO also removes the minerals that keep the water ionically stable and pH balanced.

To address this problem, calcite and re-mineralization cartridges for RO filters are available at Harvest Haven.

13. What is KDF?

KDF stands for Kinetic Degradation Fluxion.  It is a pure copper-zinc formulation that removes chlorine, chloramine, lead, mercury, iron, and hydrogen sulfide from water by exchanging electrons with contaminants, converting them into harmless components.

Unlike carbon filters, KDF media is effective even at high temperatures.

14. Is Kangen or alkaline water good for me?

We do not recommend Kangen or ionized water on a regular basis for your drinking water. Read What About Water Alkalinity?

15.What is chloramine? Is it harmful?

Chloramine is a compound formed by the reaction of chlorine with ammonia, and yes, it is harmful. To find out just how harmful, go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chloramine

It is also more difficult to remove from water than chlorine.

16. Will a filter that removes chlorine remove chloramine?

No, only filters designed to remove chloramine will do so.

17. Is fluoride harmful?

Fluoride at concentrations even less than the standard 1 PPM in city water has been found to have these effects:

18. Do I need a shower filter?

More chlorine or chloramine is absorbed through the skin during a typical shower than by drinking eight or more glasses of chlorinated water. A KDF shower filter removes chlorine and chloramine.

19. Do I need a filter if I have well water?

Well water may not need to be filtered.

If your well water comes from a municipal source, it will contain a disinfectant – chlorine or chloramine – and possibly fluoride. If so, you need a filter. Ask your municipality what it uses for treatment and for a water analysis.

If your well water comes from a private source, are you certain it is potable? Have a bacteriological and chemical analysis done. Does the water have a disagreeable color or taste? You may need a filter.

20. Do I need Grander if I have well water?

21. How can I improve my dugout water quality?

Controlling dugout water quality can be a real challenge.
