Water Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is Grander?
Water quality is greatly compromised today, not only by different types of pollution, but also by the cumulative effects of man made stresses that rob it of freshness and vitality. Grander Water Revitalization is a natural technology from Austria that was introduced to the public in 1991, now found all over the world, which restores water's original qualities that are vital to life.
Read Why Grander Is Necessary.
2. Is Grander a filtration system?
Grander can reduce the impact of chemicals or other harmful contaminants, but it is not a filtration system and does not remove from, or add any physical or chemical matter to, the water. Read Why Filtration Is Necessary.
3. If I have a filter, do I need Grander?
Although a filter takes out contaminants, it does not restore healthy structure or give you the necessary benefits of revitalized water. Read Why Grander Is Necessary.
4. If I have Grander, do I need a filter?
Most likely you will need a filter. Although Grander reduces the impact of harmful chemicals, heavy metals, and other water contaminants, it does not remove them. Read Why Filtration Is Necessary.
5. Why is revitalization important?

8. What is the difference between popular retail filters (i.e. Brita) and filters from Harvest Haven?
Many purchase filters (like Brita) from popular retail outlets, expecting that they adequately address their water needs.
While these filters may remove some chlorine and contaminants, they cannot address the many and complex needs of water, in order to promote good health and hydration.
Mass-marketed units are always more expensive in the long run because the replacement cartridges don’t last long, and the disposable nature of the filters is harmful to the environment, not to mention the manifold negative effects on your health and the inevitable costs.
Furthermore, many of these filtration systems do not have any anti-microbial properties. They can become a source of contamination, a breeding ground for bacteria. The filters at Harvest Haven contain zinc and copper in the filtration media to prevent microbial contamination.
You see then that there are better, more effective solutions that save you both money and health.
9. Is bottled water better than filtering my own?
There are inadequate regulations for bottled water. Bottling companies may not use the best methods to remove contaminants. There is also the serious problem of xenoestrogens leaching from the plastic into the water.
And think of the enormous environmental impact of those bottles!
Wouldn’t it be much better to have good, healthy water, which costs less, readily available in your home?

10. Isn’t it cheaper to buy bottled water?
Having your own filtration system can be far more cost effective, while offering you several important advantages over bottled water. Here is the comparison for a household purchasing 20 gallons of water per week over five years.
The Cost of Purchasing 20 Gallons of RO Water per Week vs. Producing that Water with a Home RO System

Depending on your water, you may not need an RO system. It is possible you may only need a KDF filter, which will lower your costs even more!
Consider those figures in light of the additional benefits of a Harvest Haven home system:
- Water available instantly.
- Full assurance of water filtration and quality.
- No leaching of plastic into your drinking water.
- Mineralization and pH buffering included with Harvest Haven system.
Purchasing a home filtration system from Harvest Haven instead of buying bottled water will pay for your system in only 8-14 months. What a great savings!
11. What information do I need about my water to decide on the type of filtration system?
Find out what your city or municipality uses for water treatment. Is it chlorine or chloramine? Is fluoride added?
Have a water analysis done if you are using well water.

12. What is reverse osmosis (RO)?
Reverse osmosis is the process of forcing water through a semi-permeable membrane, removing all microorganisms and contaminants. Unfortunately, RO also removes the minerals that keep the water ionically stable and the pH balanced.
To address this problem, calcite and remineralization cartridges for RO filters are available at Harvest Haven.
13. What is KDF?
KDF stands for Kinetic Degradation Fluxion. It is a high-purity copper-zinc formulation that removes chlorine, chloramine, lead, mercury, iron, and hydrogen sulfide from water. It does this by exchanging electrons with contaminants, converting the contaminants to harmless components.
Unlike carbon filters, KDF media is effective even at high temperatures.
14. Is Kangen or alkaline water good for me?
We do not recommend Kangen or ionized water on a regular basis for your drinking water. Read What About Water Alkalinity?
15.What is chloramine? Is it harmful?
Chloramine is a compound that is formed by the reaction of chlorine with ammonia, and yes, it is harmful. To find out how harmful, go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chloramine
It is also more difficult than chlorine to remove from the water.
Read Why Filtration Is Necessary – Chlorine and Chloramine.
16. Will a filter that removes chlorine remove chloramine?
Only filters designed to remove chloramine will do so.
Read Why Filtration Is Necessary – Chlorine and Chloramine.
17. Is fluoride harmful?
Fluoride at concentrations even less than the standard 1 PPM in city water has been found to have these effects:
- Accumulation in bones causing them to be brittle and easily fractured.
- Inactivation of enzyme systems.
- Disruption of the immune system, causing it to attack normal tissues in the body.
- Acceleration of aging process.
- Cellular and genetic damage.
- Damage of tooth enamel.
Read Why Filtration Is Necessary – Fluoride.
18. Do I need a shower filter?
More chlorine or chloramine is absorbed through the skin during a typical shower than by drinking eight or more glasses of chlorinated water. A KDF shower filter removes chlorine and chloramine.
Read Why Filtration Is Necessary – Chlorine and Chloramine.
19. Do I need a filter if I have well water?
Well water may not need to be filtered.
If your well water comes from a municipal source, it will contain a disinfectant – chlorine or chloramine – and possibly fluoride. If so, you need a filter. Ask your municipality for a water analysis and what it uses for treatment.
If your well water comes from a private source, is it proven potable? Have a bacteriological and chemical analysis done. Does the water have a disagreeable color or taste? You may need a filter.
20. Do I need Grander if I have well water?
Grander technology restructures and revitalizes all water. Read how Grander improved one customer’s well water at Grander Experiences.
21. How can I improve my dugout water quality?
Dugout water quality control can be a real challenge. Effective aeration and Grander Living Water Technology are essential to stimulate the “immune system” of water. Healthy water has an abundance of friendly aerobic bacteria to neutralize bad bacteria and pollutants that cause water quality problems.
22. How can I have great water while traveling?
