To help bring you the best in clean and good tasting water, we offer filters from Aquasmart Technologies, a Canadian company from British Columbia that has a complete line of filters for almost every kind of problem and use. Features of Aquasmart Products

Aquasmart uses a filter media known as Kinetic Degradation Fluxion or KDF® media. KDF® eliminates contaminants from the water by utilizing an electrochemical oxidation-reduction reaction. This means that toxins and heavy metals in the water are exchanged for, or neutralized with, harmless zinc and copper electrons. A reaction is also initiated that kills harmful microorganisms. For drinking water applications, the KDF® media is combined with a granulated, activated carbon element that helps control organic contaminants as well as bacteria, algae, fungi, parasites and protozoa such as giardia.

Aquasmart also has the technology to remove chloramine, a stronger disinfectant than chlorine, which is used by the city of Lethbridge. Chloramine is not removed by regular water filters that remove chlorine, nor by reverse osmosis systems. This means that most drinking water filters sold in stores are ineffective for Lethbridge water. For an idea of the toxicity of chloramine, it is recommended that you do not give chloramine-treated water to your pets.

Aquasmart has filters that can also remove heavy metals, nitrates, fluoride, bacteria, hydrogen sulfide, iron, bad taste and odours, and that can control scale and algae.

Other filters on the market are usually just activated carbon filters (e.g. Brita). Such filters not only fail to remove many of the toxins commonly found in our drinking water but are quickly exhausted, thus more expensive to use, and must be carefully monitored for chlorine breakthrough and bacteria buildup.

For drinking water, a complete assortment of inexpensive counter top models and under the counter systems, as well as top quality yet relatively inexpensive reverse osmosis systems.

For the shower, where, unknown to many, more chlorine is absorbed than from drinking two quarts of chlorinated tap water, there is an easy to install shower-head unit. To treat the water at all the taps in your house, drinking, bathing, and laundry, there is a whole house unit.

For travel and hiking, a portable sports water bottle/filter. This can be used for filtering stream water as well as tap water, removing even cryptosporidium and giardia. It is simple to use and inexpensive.
