New Buildings - General Information

Welcome to the virtual window view of our new building project at Harvest Haven Health.  This is something we conceived many years ago that is now becoming a reality.  We are constructing two buildings. One building will be home to an organic retail store and alternative health center and the other is a second residence.  The facility will include expanded area for use of our revolutionary “self-care” health devices, improved and spacious organic retail area, and a commercial kitchen with a wood-fired bread/pizza oven and cook stove and an organic bistro.  However, the actual construction of the building is the focus of this page.

The new store/health center will be a timber framed, straw/clay structure.　The timber frame is being designed, and will be erected, by two top-level, traditional timber framers from Japan.  We will also have participation from numerous other notable craftspeople from far and wide throughout the project.  In fact, Harvest Haven will be the host to numerous and diverse how-to seminars over the next couple of years.  These opportunities include:

- Several advanced Japanese joinery and timber-framing courses open to experienced timber framers and taught by two of Japan’s best traditional timber framers (translation will be provided).

- Workshops on straw-clay construction.  You can do it yourself!!  Whether you want to build a shed or an organic food store/alternative health center/organic bistro, you can learn the necessary basics.

- Workshops on Japanese traditional clay finish plastering technique for both interior and exterior walls.  Discover this completely non-toxic, durable, functional and beautiful finish.  Planned teacher will be a master plasterer from Japan (translation provided).  Open to all.

- Several courses taught by a renowned Austrian craftsman on how to build your own traditional Kachelofen wood-fired masonary heater, bread/pizza oven and cook stove.

Our farm will be a very busy place for the next several years.  We look forward to meeting all those who God will draw to this project and sharing this experience with them.
