Dena sent this letter to Dr. Bonlie, owner and inventor of the
Magnetico Sleep Pad:
Hi Dean and Joyce Bonlie,
We recently sent out our latest newsletter, which included some
information on Magnetico mattress pads. We received the following
response from one of our customers, who thought Magnetico was too
expensive:
"I bought 4500 gauss 1" magnets from Good For You and
placed 210 of them onto a 60"x 80" piece of peg board
[queen sized bed] spaced every 5 inches. YES! I did use duct tape.
I believe they created for me a stronger and deeper negative magnetic
field and increased the benefits from the 1200 gauss of the magnetico
pads."
What differences would there be between your mattress pads and
the homemade one described above? We would like to make sure that
we have the correct information before speaking with our customer
regarding this issue.
Thank you for your help,
Dena

Reply by Joyce, Dr. Bonlie’s wife:
Hi Dena,
So we have a creative customer down there!! I'm assuming this
peg board version is placed beneath his mattress...doesn't sound
too comfy for on-top! It sounds like he has neodymium magnets,
which do hold a stronger charge. However, the "number" on
the strength rating is only part of the picture. It also depends
on the mass of material charged. You could have the head of a pin
with 10,000 gauss or a domino-shaped magnet...bigger mass, more
effect. Also, thicker magnets will penetrate farther, even if they
are the same flat dimension. Our magnets are rated 3,900 gauss
but they are placed so much closer, that they form a unified field
acting like a single magnet the size of the bed. The gauss number
appears as a lower number, as much of the strength is used to push
the field up evenly to the ceiling. This, of course, is replicating
the way we get magnetism from the earth...which we need to supplement
now due to its severe depletion. The best comparison of strength
is in its relationship to the present strength of the earth's field
at .05 gauss. This is established and measured by the US Geological
Survey.
So, our magnetic pads produce a 10X Classic model, a 20X Core
model, and a 40X Super model. An alternating field does not produce
a unified strength field, so doesn't even qualify to be in the
same category.
No matter how strong his magnets are, if they are 5" apart,
there will be sizeable peaks of the "Return" Positive(+)
field between the magnets, assuming he has the negative side up.
This opposite direction of field slows down atoms rather than speeding
them up like ours, and the slowing down will send an emergency
message to the brain that all is not well in those areas. The brain,
in turn, responds by sending an increased supply of energy to those
spots....which, in time will be depleting their reserves of vitality.
We all need reserves for true emergencies such as an auto accident,
surgery, intense emotional upsets, illnesses, etc.
So, yes, he will probably be noticing more "effect" at
the moment due to the stimulatory response he's getting. But, it's
not good to do that long-term. It's unfortunate that magnetism
is not easily understood.
I hope this helps explain it for you. Feel free to call in, if
you think of more questions.
